What was the first musclecar ?There are those who would say it was the 55 Chrysler 300,or the 55 chevy...wrong.What constitutes this phenomena ? Power to weight ratio...Intermediate body...Badges.The first big block intermediates were the 1962 Mopar 413s ; Do these qualify as such ? Nope.The first company to manufacture a badged intermediate package was Pontiac, in 1964.Was the GTO quarter mile king in 1964 ? Well,no.The GTO,which had to be slipped by the big brass at GM,was first to the marketplace,followed by its GM imitators in 1965,Ford in 1966 and Mopar in 1967.
